Sony SAB is all set to launch its upcoming show, Hui Gumm Yaadein: Ek Doctor, Do Zindagiyaan, which tells a heartfelt story of a doctor whose life changes after he loses his memory and, in the process, begins to see his patients beyond their medical history, at a more personal level. Dr. Dev (Iqbal Khan) isn’t just trying to reclaim his past; he’s slowly understanding how essential compassion is to being a doctor.

Inspiration from sisters-

For Iqbal Khan, who steps into the role of Dr. Dev, this journey felt deeply personal. While preparing for the character, Iqbal found himself looking close to home for inspiration. With both his sisters being doctors, he has grown up watching what it really means to care for patients beyond prescriptions and reports. Observing them deal with people at their most vulnerable helped him understand that empathy is often a doctor’s most powerful tool.

Important emotional support-

Iqbal shares that what stayed with him the most was the quiet compassion his sisters bring into their work, the way they listen, observe, and stay fully present with their patients, especially in moments of vulnerability. That deep sense of empathy became a key emotional anchor for him while portraying Dr. Dev, particularly in a story where the character is rediscovering himself and the world around him, one moment at a time.

Being a doctor is not just about medical skills but also about empathy-

Talking about this influence, Iqbal Khan says,”Both my sisters are doctors and what really stayed with me was how compassionate they are with their patients, the way they slow down, listen carefully, and make their patients feel heard, even in stressful situations. My sister Sabina, who practices in Australia, almost switches on an awareness mode the moment she’s with a patient, noticing not just the symptoms but the emotions and personal situations behind them. While preparing for Dr. Dev, I consciously worked on bringing that calm, reassuring presence into the character, how he speaks, how he listens, and even how he reacts in silence. It reminded me that being a doctor isn’t just about medical skill, it’s about empathy, and that’s something I’ve tried to reflect in every scene.”
